According to CNet News, a PBS blogger named Robert X. Cringle postulated Google would develop mobile data centers connecting to Google Cubes. Read the original post if you must know the details. So then a Bear Stearns analyst references Cringle is a prediction of Google’s future plans. Next, a zealous LA Times reporter cites and mashes the Bear Stearns prediction, and voila, Google and Wal-Mart are taking over the world. Fortunately, you can count of Marketing Blurb for healthy skepticism and for scoop on the real story (thanks to CNet.) To set the record straight, Google said:
"We have many PC partners who serve their markets exceedingly well and we see no need to enter that market; we would rather partner with great companies."
So breathe a sigh of relief--but never turn your back on either Google or Wal-Mart.
