Microseries to Air Inside TV Commercials
It’s no secret that television viewers are watching fewer commercials these days. Digital video recorders allow viewers to skip commercials, and okay, here’s an even more serious truth. Most commercials are so horrible, even low-tech viewers turn televisions.jpgdown the volume or leave the room. But CBS and General Motors have a novel idea. Why not run a microseries show inside your commercials—a show so compelling, you watch the commercials to see what happens next. The show is called The Courier, and it will air in 60 second installments, during the ad breaks at 9 PM on CBS every night for a week. General Motors is sponsoring the series. See the Wall Street Journal for details (paid subscription required.)  Marketing Blurb thinks this idea is so crazy it just might work. We like the concept of a 60 second television episode. Imagine--what if all shows changed to this format? With the time saved, television could go off the air at 9 PM every evening. Just a thought.
