Marketing Blurb loves Starbucks coffee as much as the next guy (okay, more than the next guy.) And we drink it black without any whipped nonsense. As such, next time we down a joe there, we are unlikely to buy a movie. But that will not stop Starbucks for promoting an upcoming new movie called Akeelah and the Bee at about 5,500 company-operated U.S. and Canadian stores. Starbucks will feature the film on cup sleeves, and sell DVDs of the movie and CDs of the soundtrack in exchange for an undisclosed share of the movie's box-office proceeds. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal (paid subscription required) Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz said "Starbucks isn't an entertainment company, but we want to have an entertainment strategy that supports the foundation of the coffee experience that our customers have come to expect and enjoy." Marketing Blurb says “cut the Hollywood and serve the sauce.”
