soon expect another hassle. Aromatic packaging--that is--food packaging enhanced to smell like the product it contains. While the concept has merit, imagine an aisle of smelly packages, and the pending lawsuits as aromatic peanuts render allergic shoppers comatose. Okay, maybe this is over the top, but
The Washington Post is
reporting that AriZona Ice Tea is already experimenting with bottle caps that smell like the beverage. Other applications include “incorporating scents directly into plastic bags and bottles, so a consumer can smell shampoo or chocolate without opening the top.”
Marketing Blurb is not convinced this is progress. Let food smell, let packaging not.
