Business Week Confirms Marketing Blurb
Regular readers know that Marketing Blurb is not keen on celebrity endorsements. teengirls.jpgBusiness Week feels the same way we do, so you’ll want to read Don't Hide Behind Famous Faces Hitching your brand to a celebrity's star won't help you win over the girl market. In fact, it could backfire completely. BW calls "celebrity-ism" marketing trend “one of the biggest mistakes in the 21st-century girl market.” Ouch. Gen Y teen girls consider celebrity endorsements fabricated, and insincere. These consumers are seeking the individualism and authenticity than celebrities lack. Teen girls report they simply tune out celebrity endorsement advertisements. And always remember, you never know when vapid celebrities will embarrass themselves and your brand in public. Now excuse me while I fetch one of those Jessica Simpson pizzas--not.
