Marketing Blurb is still puzzled why the fast food industry is pretending to be health
conscious. Beginning this month, and rolling out over this year, 20,000 McDonald’s Restaurants will unveil new packaging which includes product nutrition information. For example, before you scarf down that Quarter Pounder with Cheese, you will discover from the packaging this puppy possess 730 calories, 1,330 mg of sodium, 160 mg of cholesterol and 40g of fat. The move is intended to help consumers make more informed choices about their diets. McDonald’s president and COO said at a press conference, “We listen closely to our customers and understand how important transparency is to them.”
Read more from Brandweek if you must. Marketing Blurb respectfully submits this new packaging is utter nonsense. Health-conscious consumers never set foot inside a McDonald’s restaurant. We’re stepping down from the soapbox now, thanks.
