
You already know you can count on Marketing Blurb for news of Pamela Anderson. Last month, we shared Pamela’s well-publicized animal cruelty protest targeting removal of the bust of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders from the Kentucky state Capitol. And just a few weeks later, we announced that The Kentucky Derby would
accept its first-ever advertising sponsorship from KFC parent company, Yum Brands. But we neglected to consider these stories were destined to collide. Pamela Anderson, who has attended the derby in years past, just announced she will boycott the 2006 event this May.
"I don't want to support cruelty to animals, whether it's forcing horses to race for our amusement or scalding chickens alive for our plate," Anderson said in a statement released through People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Tuesday. "It makes me want to avoid Kentucky altogether, which is sad because there are so many great people there."
Since Marketing Blurb believes in the ethical treatment of animals and celebrities, we are declining comment except to say that derby spectators will scarcely notice Pamela’s absence in the stands. Photo Credit: E! Online
