While woes at GM seem to dominate the auto news these days, you might also have
noticed that Ford is aggressively advertising it hybrid vehicles. While hybrids only account for less than 10% of Ford sales, the company plans to boost production from 19,000 units last year to 250,000 by 2010. Despite the advertising push, however, hybrid sales are stalling at about half of Ford’s production capability for these vehicles. Ford increased hybrid incentives and placed CEO Bill Ford Jr, and Kermit the Frog out front as green spokes people.
Marketing Blurb wishes Ford and GM well in rebuilding the industry, although advertising alone is not up to the task.
