Viewers tuning into the Academy Awards this weekend will see Coca-Cola launch two new products. The first is
Coca-Cola Blak, a coffee-cola drink, and the other is
Tab Energy, a new energy drink targeted to women.
According to the
Atlanta Journal 
Constitution, “the company uses major events to launch new products and campaigns because the events provide "a lot of eyeballs to kick-start those activities," said Alison Lewis, senior vice president for integrated marketing at Coke's North America unit.”
Marketing Blurb notes that coffee cola drinks have failed multiple times since the 1970s. If you want coffee, you drink coffee. If you want cola, you want cola (unfortunately.) Tab Energy sounds more promising to us. Their tag line is "Fuel to be fabulous." High octane black coffee is best, and we feel fabulous, thanks.
