Now you might think that Easter is a religious holiday, but marketers know you are wrong. Easter is really just another gift occasion, a great time to buy too much candy, new clothes and toys for the kids. Hasbro was you to buy board games for Junior as an Easter gift, so they tested free standing inserts with discount coupons last year. That effort proved a hit, so Hasbro is launching television advertising this year, urging parents to “Think outside the basket” when considering gifts for Easter. The commercials feature the Easter bunny retrofitting an Easter basket to accommodate the Game of Life. Hasbro hopes the campaign will lessen their dependency on four quarter holiday sales.
