Unlike Laura Bush, Marketing Blurb does not watch Desperate Housewives. Our own life is complicated enough without worrying about somebody else’s neighborhood. But we know from the press this show is a monster hit, and as such has and will create spin-off products. Some of these products are already for sale at the ABC television store. But we just learned from The Wall Street Journal, (paid subscription required) that ABC and Coty are going to launch a Desperate Housewives perfume. The fragrance is nameless at this point, although Desperate Housewives sounds like a promising moniker to us. Our wife (and our girlfriend) already smells fabulous, so we not shop for fragrances. If we did, we would learn that celebrity fragrance sales reached nearly $3 billion in 2004 and the category continues to grow.
