Step up to the plate—EAT
If you market upscale cooking utensils, or refrigerators that cost as much as a house eatmagazine.jpgtrailer, you can readily reach your target audience via gourmet cooking magazines. But most American families rush through their days like adrenaline zombies, with little time to think food preparation. Fortunately, help is on the way. Meredith publications has just launched a new magazine called EAT, “targeting young working professionals--especially mothers--who want to prepare meals for their families on a limited budget, and often with no experience in cooking.” (This is sometimes the daughter of a working mom who regularly prepared Chinese takeout for dinner.) The magazine will give busy moms and dads “doable” recipes. The magazine will launch with supermarket promotions in offers in other magazines like Fitness and Family Circle. According to the publisher, EAT is ”about June Cleaver values reconciled with the facts of modern life." Marketing Blurb thinks this might be a problem, because no one under 40 years old knows June Cleaver.

Them's fightin' words, Pilgrim. I remember June Cleaver quite nicely, thank you VERY much. I also remember Ward, the Beav, and oh gosh, what was his name again? ;-)
