Marketing Blurb has not shopped Toys R Us for ages. We remember the stores as over-merchandised to the point of appearing junky.
Perhaps that has changed. But countless children and their parents are shopping the chain, and this Spring they will encounter licensed merchandise from Major League Baseball. According to
Brandweek, Toys R Us will “feature an expanded assortment of MLB merchandise, including videogames, baseball cards, sporting goods and more in front-of-store boutiques. MLB players in April will make personal appearances at stores in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, St. Louis and Washington, D.C.”
Marketing Blurb loves toys and trading cards, but we mixed feelings about Major League Baseball. If we believe the press, players are so pumped with steroids, there is a second-hand saliva danger to children when players arrive at Toy R Us stores to sign autographs.
