Marketing Blurb resisted the temptation to critique all those inane
Super Bowl commercials in February. We watched the game and thoroughly enjoyed four quarters
of serious offense and defense. For the most part, the commercials were lame. But we still agree the Super Bowl is an excellent venue for publicity
about the commercials. In fact, the pre-game publicity is worth far
more than the commercials. And here is a great bit of publicity. Anheuser-Busch has decided to lock in their Super Bowl slot as the exclusive alcohol advertiser for the next five years. "It makes perfect sense for us to be a major part of the Super Bowl broadcast," said Tony Ponturo, Anheuser-Busch's vice president of global media and sports marketing. "It is viewed by more than 90 million people, the vast majority of whom are adult beer drinkers."
