We leave foreign policy to the political pundits, but we do feel compelled to share the news from
AFP that Harley Davidson has opened shop in China. This was no easy
task, mind you, because the government bans motorcycles with engines over 250 cc, and taxes the hog to high heaven. Enthusiasts have smuggled in hogs for years, but now the company is an authorized, albeit restricted, dealer. Harley Davidson has been trying to enter the Chinese market for 50 years, and
Marketing Blurb hopes this patience is rewarded. Hollis Zhao, general manager for the dealership believes Harleys will be loved by Chinese people for the same reasons as Americans: "because they represent freedom."
Marketing Blurb says “May a thousand hogs bloom.”
