If you are an 18 to 34 year old male, you might think life is complex enough. You gotta
worry about girls, booze, sneakers, and girls. Fortunately, there is a magazine to help you, called appropriately enough,
Complex. We’re grateful to Toby Elkin of
Media Post Publications (free registration required) to learn that this four year old magazine is the “style/lifestyle guide for urban and definitely hip 18-to-34-year-old males who appreciate the hip-hop/rap ethos and everything that goes along with it.” The format is formulaic—celebrity cover, “airbrushed sex kittens,” quick-hit interviews and fashion, which apparently includes a disproportionate emphasis on sneakers. While we do not regret our boomer status, we do regret we’re too old for hip-hop/rap ethos (unless personally invited by a celebrity) and we could use the right pair of sneakers.
