Marketing Blurb is not a rag trade pundit. We love fashion, but our life is too busy for glamour. To us, Old Navy is the battleship Missouri. To others, Old Navy is “great fashion at great prices.” This positioning statement communicates little, and according to Media Post Publications, (free registration required) Old Navy competitors are convincingly staking the same claim. So Old Navy is trying a new advertising approach with product placement the Fox comedy The Loop. Prepping for a date the lead character exclaims "God, I look great in this Old Navy skirt." We think this is very subtle, don’t you? Perhaps this so-called branded entertainment will swallow content all together, and all television programming will be reduced to product pitches.
