You already know that Marketing Blurb is not keen on celebrity endorsements. Celebrities are not like you and me—they are flakier! But research firm NPD Group decided to apply metrics to the proposition in an effort to find out which celebrities are effective and which are duds. The NPD Group survey asked respondents to score 87 celebrity and athlete endorsers. We are not surprised by the results. According to NPD Group, Ty Pennington, of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," is deemed the most credible and likely to influence a purchase. (Guess what folks? Marketing Blurb has never even heard of this guy.) Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Kate Moss and Donald Trump were all deemed far less credible and likely to influence a purchase.
