Radio Advertising Struggling
You already know that online media is sucking advertising away from newspapers. radio3.jpgThis is especially true in certain product categories, like automotive, where local newspaper depend upon regular placements by local car dealers. But traditional radio advertising sales are in a funk as well. The Radio Advertising Bureau reported that despite a modest 4% national sales increase in February, local radio ad dollars dropped 3% resulting in a 2% overall industry decline from the year before. Auto industry placements normally account for about 15 to 20% of local radio ad revenues. As goes GM, so goes the nation.
