Marketing Blurb loves beer more than the next pundit. But we never touch any brew that advertises on television. We favor foreign beer, or the honest and distinctive brews of
microbreweries. These smaller folks are more interested in taste than image. Even our college-aged son is a beer snob, and he is constantly introducing us to something new and always excellent. And so our son, and countless others his age, has never even hear of Schlitz,
the beer that made Milwaukee famous. We thought the brand vanished years ago, but according to
Advertising Age, the “157-year-old Schlitz is trying to re-establish itself with a retro makeover, including a reprise of the gilded bottle that carried the brew in the 1950s when it was the world's best-selling beer.”
Marketing Blurb thinks it is about time that the 1950s made a comeback, and we are all for this retro makeover. We can’t promise we will drink the stuff, but we are anxious to see the campaign.
