Whenever we teach marketing, our students always ask, what is your favorite
advertisement? Well, if we had to pick just one, we are fond of the Right-hand ring campaign from
A Diamond is Forever Trading Company. Originally, the campaign featured comely single women who proudly realized they could purchase their own diamonds without a
lunkhead male. Well, it turns out that some of those women are now married. The newer campaign we just saw in
Southern Living now features a married woman. She still radiates the confidence necessary to conquer the world, and still probably doesn’t need her husband, either. Maybe she would meet us for coffee, and then again, maybe not.
