Clever Business Cards
Whenever Marketing Blurb attends one of those small business networking events, bizcard.jpgwe exchange business cards with other like-minded souls or prospects. Our business card is simple--just our logo and contact information on a white background. But according to The Wall Street Journal (paid subscription required) people who take our card just enter our information into their PDA or contact database and immediately throw away our card! We’re not offended really, because we often do the same thing. But to stand out in the crowd these days, you need a business card made of stiffened raw silk, rubberized paper, wood, or corrugated steel. These cards grab attention! But as you might expect, these novelty business cards can cost up to $ 2 each. Tell your HR department you need to order these, pronto! Photo Credit: The Wall Street Journal

I use a cd-rom business card and load it up with useful information for my prospects and, of course, populate the label with the traditional business card info.

It is a relatively old idea, but I am still amazed by the people who are amazed by the little 3", rectrangularish cd-rom business card. They pop it in and get an introductory video and then can peruse lots of papers, articles and other information.

I've gotten calls from it 2 or 3 years after I've given it so I know its perceived value is high and people hang on to it.

It is worth its weight in gold.

I agree with Wall Street, as I use aluminum business cards myself that I got from http://www.cardbuilderpro.com.ecardbuilder.com/ website. The thin business card doesn't take up any more space in my wallet, but it is virtually indestructible.
This card made me win a lot of prizes in Fish bowl draws as it stands out above paper once. I usually give them out sparingly, as the cards are more expensive than standard once, but I can assure you they are not $2 each like you posted. At that rate you would need to be a really good client to get one.
The only draw back to metal business cards, is that no one can make their comments on them once I turn my back :).
