When people think consumer electronics, Radio Shack is rarely the first retailers that
comes to mind. But when your 30 year old Sony amplifier does not have enough inputs jacks to accommodate a second-hand PlayStation, you know that Radio Shack will have some kind of switch box do-hickey from China that will tackle the hock-up and give you additional aux outputs to toast bagels at the same time. (We know this from personal experience.) But according to
Business Week, Radio Shack successfully tested flat panel televisions in 40 markets last year, and is preparing to rollout the televisions in most stores nationwide. To their credit, RS has improved their
website, and it is easier to use than the Best Buy or Circuit City sites. Of course Wal-Mart is going upscale with consumer electronics as well. We will wait for the market to shakeout somewhat, while we watch the news on our cell phone.
