Journal at the same time. (And if you must know, WSJ editorial beats the local news every time!) We were particularly captivated by a four-page full-color advertisement for video game company Sega. The ad features the faces of fantasy game characters. And these faces are life-size. You can see piercing eyes, razor stubble, and wispy hair. You cannot ignore these determined warriors. Each appears ready to cut someone like Jack Welsh in half. (Even in retirement, he remains a hunted man.) But unlike most videogame advertising, this spread is not promoting a specific game. Rather, the ad is announcing the pending release of fiscal earnings for parent company Sega Sammy Holdings. This is a rather impressive ad buy to take advantage of the hype surrounding the Electronics Entertainment Expo in LA this week. We’re ready to suit-up and do battle—as long as these folks are on our side!
