Marketing Blurb is fortunate to live near the headquarters of MicroCenter, a computer
super center. We love to visit, and kick the tires on the new PCs. (We no longer kick the printers, because they break.) But these days,
real men build their own computers—so MicroCenter has a health display of motherboards, cases, hard drives, fans, ram, and all the good stuff you need to build your own box. Well, MicroCenter can expect competition, because according to
Reuters, Wal-Mart is testing build-it-yourself computers in about a third of their stores this month. We are not convinced this is a good idea, because shoppers who bungle their PC assembly are likely to blame Wal-Mart for lack of support. We suppose the kits come with a healthy disclaimer.
