The Alka-Seltzer is brand is older and wiser than you are. In fact, the brand is
celebrating 75 years of relief of upset stomach, headache, hangover, or whatever. Students of the brand know Alka-Seltzer reinvents itself every ten years or so to solve the ills of contemporary society. (We used to work with one of the many Brand Managers who crafted the image of Alka-Seltzer over the years.) And to capture to imagination of boomers and others, Alka-Seltzer has decided to resurrect their famous slogan from 1971—"Try it, You’ll Like it." Now some of you reading this blog will have no idea what we are talking about—but trust us—this simple tag line was huge. But you can judge for yourself, because according to
The New York Times (free registration required,) Alka-Seltzer is essentially re-shooting the original commercials using this slogan. The move has little if any risk. When the brand recently reused their "I can’t believe I ate the whole thing" slogan, sales immediately increased by 12%. Cheers.
