Marketing Blurb has not been to Vegas for a few years now, but we doubt much has
changed in our absence. People keep losing money and developers keep erecting casinos.
Maxim magazine just
announced they will lend their brand name to real estate developer Concord Wilshire Partners LLC for a new 2300-room, 60,000 square foot casino to open in 2010.
Maxim bills the casino as sexy and flirtatious—but also fun and comfortable. This sounds just like your own family room--only smaller, right? A management company will run the casino on behalf of Maxim. On a smaller scale,
Playboy is returning to the club market by licensing the
Playboy Club name to The Palms casino hotel this fall. Playboy exited club operations 25 years ago, but must be willing to gamble on this licensing deal.
Marketing Blurb suspects anyone who can afford to build a casino can fill a casino these days. We are less certain the Playboy Club idea will fly again. In any event, we are not placing a wager just yet.
