While it might be lost on US sports fan, the World Cup Football Tournament (that’s
soccer for all you NASCAR moms and dads) is the real mother of all sporting and advertising events in the free world. Coke is a major advertiser, and they are playing all the angles. To reach teens, Coke decided to pass on television commercials and is using video blogging, or
vlogging instead. Every day, Coke uploads video adventures of
Postie and Titch, two unofficial mascots created to promote Coke products for the tournament to the Unofficial Mascots video blog site. "It's more relevant to a teen than a TV ad," said Simon Freedman, senior brand manager for Coke in Great Britain.
