Back in May, we commented that Ford’s
Bold Move television campaign reminded us
more of a Rally’s burger commercial than a serious attempt to brand or sell automobiles. We haven’t changed our mind. But we have learned that Ford will sponsor the AMC channel four-hour western titled
Broken Trail which premiers as a two-part special on June 25 and 26. According to
Brandweek, this is Ford’s first ad buy with AMC, and includes “30- and 60-second vignettes as well as tagged tune-ins, integrated bumpers, logo presence on print ads and online exposure on AMCtv.com and the
Broken Trail micro site.”
Marketing Blurb has no idea whether or not this sponsorship is a bold move. But we do love the
Broken Trail micro site, and encourage you to visit. To be honest, we did not venture past the site landing page. But there is this wonderfully sullen theme music which includes authentic horse snorts. As we always say, "give a man a horse he can ride."
