Junk Food Without Guilt
Marketing Blurb is intrigued by the wave of new “calorie controlled” products we’ve cheetos.jpgseen. The deal is to create a single serving size package where the number of calories is the selling point. Think a 100-calorie bag of Fritos, for example. Candy makers are joining the movement as well. Hershey will introduce a 100-calorie candy bar later this year. (The good stuff is about 325 calories.) But lMargo Wootan, director of nutrition policy for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, is skeptical. "Just because the portion size is small, it doesn't make an Oreo into an apple," she said. "People have to remember that a lot of these portion-control foods are still junk foods." Marketing Blurb says—hey—if the portion sizes are too small, eat two! See The Chicago Tribune for more.
