As it turns out, the Amusement Park business is not fun anymore. Slumping attendance, weak concession and merchandise sales, bad weather, and company debt are forcing Six Flags to consider selling or dismantling Magic Mountain and other of their amusement park properties. Some of the diminished attendance can be attributed to Six Flags suspending sale of deeply discounted season passes in their effort to “restore price and brand integrity.” But teens without parents, a key constituency, are missing from the parks in recent years.
