The Scoop on Impressions (but who’s counting?)
Now you might think that if you wanted the maximum number of brand impressions in fast_tennis.jpgsports advertising you would advertise on the Super Bowl, and you would be wrong, naturally. Statistics released by Nielsen Sports’ Sponsorships reveal that tennis and auto racing are the better ad buy. JP Morgan Chase, the top sponsor of the US Open Men’s Final on CBS achieved more impressions per hour to adults ages 25-54 than did Motorola, the top sponsor for the Super Bowl on ABC. (Chase won with 162 million to Motorola’s 157 million impressions.) Lowes Home Improvement advertised on the Daytona 500 and scored more impressions than Citibank sponsoring the Rose Bowl. Brandweek brought this to our attention. So remember to think outside the red zone. Oh, and if you are unsure, tennis is the fastest of the three events.
