It used to be easy to be stylish. As long as you sported the familiar Burberry plaid jacket
or accessory, you were good to go. But the British fashion giant is concerned that their famous plaid is over-exposed or too often the object of knock-offs. So to remain trendy, Burberry is looking outside the plaid. According to
The Wall Street Journal, “an equestrian knight and the cursive signature of founder Thomas Burberry” will appear as logos on Burberry handbags, shoes and scarves. The new logos are intended to help the brand gain luxury exclusivity, and appeal equally to men and women. Burberry also intends to open more boutiques in the US, and lessen its dependence on department store sales.
Marketing Blurb still loves the plaid and we miss our father's old Burberry trenchcoat. But since we are fashion-challenged, we will leave the branding to the pros.
