Life use to be easy and tea was tea. But these days, drinking tea makes ordering at Starbucks a walk in the park. So Coca-Cola has decided to simply the decision process with their new line of premium iced teas called Gold Peak. According to Brandweek, "Coke spokesman John Stowell said competitors offer an increasingly complicated variety of flavor blends, but Coke is going in the other direction with Gold Peak's "simple-to-understand" flavors for adult tea drinkers. They include sweetened, unsweetened, lemon, diet and green teas.” Gold Peak is targeting the “everyday gourmet” in women 34-plus (age not size.) You will soon see the brand supported by print and outdoor advertising. Oh, and Coca-Cola still owns Nestea, which remains far easier to understand, but not nearly as trendy. Yes, we drink ice tea in the summer, but we insist on brewing our own from grocery store bags. Oh, and we still drink coffee all morning—even in August. Maybe this new brand will work for our wife or girlfriend.
