If you think you’ve heard of the self-cooling beer can before, you have. The original technology to chill beverages in cans is now a decade old. But you never really enjoyed many cold beers without a cooler, because the EPA nixed the cans for releasing ozone-depleting gas. But Tempra Technology is back with a new environmentally friendly design which uses a water-based system to lower beer temperature by 30 degrees in three minutes. The can holds 11 ounces of beer, but is only slightly larger than a 16 ounce “tall boy” serving size. Once the cans are available you can leave that cooler behind for the big game. Oh, and retailers will save money by devoting less beer in refrigerated cases. Let’s just hope someone fills the cans with a brew worth drinking.
