Here’s the Beef—Maxim and Burger King
We have long since abandoned any attempt to understand branding or advertising at maxim_hometown_hotties.jpgBurger King. But in an effort to draw young men into their restaurants, the King is partnering with Maxim magazine for an online promotion called Table Guest. At a special, soon to be unveiled microsite, salivating teens can view video of three models from Maxim Hometown Hotties. Site visitors select one of the models for a virtual lunch. Of course, the real draw is a sweepstakes where the winner scores a real lunch with a Maxim Hometown Hottie. While we have not yet seen the promotion, we read enough from Online Media Daily (free registration required) to convince us this is a dumb idea. Using sex to sell burgers is passé—but hey—if this is Burger King, expect something wacko. PS: Beautiful women don’t need a Maxim brand. Photo Credit: Maxim.com
