Office Max Nixes Mail-in Rebates
Face it. Mail-in rebates are a pain you know where. You have to cut out UPC codes from boxes, photocopy receipts, and fill in tiny boxes with your mailing address. If you are office_maxjpg.jpglucky, you receive your money 8 or 12 weeks later. Office Max shares your pain, and they are joining other merchants in eliminating mail-in rebates from their merchandise. Instead, Office Max will provide equivalent instant discounts at checkout. The move is intended to improve the shopping experience. "We're intent on providing OfficeMax customers with the best shopping experience possible and the retail mail-in rebate program was not consistent with that goal," said Ryan Vero, executive VP and CMO for OfficeMax, in a statement. "By simply reflecting a discount in the purchase price for computers, printers, digital cameras, and other products at OfficeMax stores, we are giving customers what they really want without subjecting them to a complicated and often confusing rebate process." Marketing Blurb applauds this move. Next time we need office equipment and we know the manufacturer is offering a rebate—we are going to Office Max.

FINALLY! I've always hated their rebate process. Staples was better because it could all be done online, including tracking the status. However, now this tops it out -- 100% instant rebates. Woohoo!
