The Lowdown on Airline Food
Marketing Blurb does not fly first class anymore. We used to score first class airline_food.jpgupgrades all the time; and the champagne in a glass flute with breakfast was a nice touch on the long haul to the west coast. But you know the drill these days, no free food period. If you want a buy meal or snack box, sit near the front of the plane before the limited supply is exhausted. If you missed your meal last time—don’t worry--The Wall Street Journal decided to taste test boxed meals and snacks from the major airlines for you. We’ll cut to the case and let you know that Air Canada scored kudos for the best breakfast muffin and a decent roast beef sandwich for lunch. United scored for the best snack box, which included Bumble Bee's lemon-pepper tuna medley, Wild Garden's hummus dip, Stacy's baked pita chips, Newman's Own raisins and minipack Toblerone Swiss chocolate with honey and almond nougat (700 calories). Yes, we realize the airline industry cannot afford to serve us food, but can any carrier delight us like the days of old? Photo Credit: The Wall Street Journal
