Now you might think that
Teen People magazine would be a great way to reach teens
with your advertising message, and you would be wrong, naturally. As it turns out, parent Time Inc has decided to fold the magazine with the September issue. Launched in 1998, the magazine failed to reach circulation competitive with
Cosmo Girl, Teen Vogue, and
Seventeen. But the brand will survive on the web, which is totally cool—we think. "We will continue to invest in the brand through TeenPeople.com which shows promise and growth. Teen People’s groundbreaking launch in 1998 as a magazine and Web site was an industry first, and one that we remain proud of," said Time Inc. CEO Ann Moore and editor in chief John Huey in an internal memo to company staffers.”
Marketing Blurb would like to believe that young women have more important things to do than stress over celebrity gossip.
