Marketing Blurb is an advocate of point-of-sale marketing, which we deem superior to most any other advertising venue. We love grocery shopping, because we are a sucker for POS displays. So even though some consumer advocate will cry foul, we were delighted to discover from
Advertising Age (free registration required) that a company called EnVision Marketing Group is introducing a patented system to print digital, photo-quality ads directly on grocery store checkout lane conveyor belts. This would
certainly keep us entertained for several loops while we load the belt with branded goodies from the food aisles. Kroger stores is the first national retailer to test the advertising in a few dozen stores. Harps Food Stores, a much smaller chain is also testing the system in 13 locations.
Ad Age reports that national advertisers are not yet participating, but EnVision is offering exclusive deals for national companies to lockout competitors on the beltway. In the meantime, it makes sense for local companies to lead the charge.
