Shortly after we were born, our doctor was forced to administer an emergency IV of black coffee, and we have been hooked ever since. But most folks develop as taste later in life—some as college students. So to reach and tempt those impressionable and academic-minded young adults, Melitta USA is taking their new single-serve coffeemaker on a 36-campus tour this fall. Called
Ready, Set, Joe One-cup, the
coffeemaker is deemed ideal for students. The tour will sample 300,000 students with a cone for the coffeemaker, a packet of filters, and coupons for Melitta coffee and filters. Melitta will enlist college residential service staff to deliver the samples. "College students are known for pulling all-nighters, and with our new brewing system, they can enjoy a fresh cup of their favorite coffee in their dorm rooms anytime, night or day," said senior product manager Kerrie Tobin in a statement.
Marketing Blurb is pro-coffee, but to our knowledge most colleges ban dorm room coffee pots as a fire hazard.
