Like all marketing pundits, Marketing Blurb occasionally gets a headache. When we do, we take aspirin—okay--usually extra strength Excedrin, and get on with our live. We consider taking aspirin easy enough—insert pill in mouth, add water and swallow. But according to research conducted by Johnson and Johnson, “30% of households don't medicate for headaches because it's too inconvenient to do so.”  We are not sure what this means, but according to Advertising Age, there is a solution—chewable Tylenol. Yep, if swallowing a pill with water is just too much trouble, maybe you would just chew the sucker instead. And so Johnson and Johnson is preparing to launch a $ 30 million ad campaign this fall to promote Tylenol Go, “Fast headache relief wherever whenever.” The chewable pill is targeted to the 30 to 54 year old demographic, busy people with children and on-the-commuting between home and the office. The product will be stocked at checkout counters along with the magazines and candy. We could never make this stuff up, so we thank Advertising Age for smacking us alongside the head on this story.
