Coke Tries Hard to be Hip
Coca-Cola is in somewhat of a funk these days—but it won’t last for long. Coke is trying all kinds of new marketing approaches—with mixed results. In Europe, Coca-Cola is partnering with Apple to promote free music downloads from the iTunes music service. Coke is prepared to give away millions of music downloads to the Gen X and Y folks who frequent the site, and who should really be drinking more Coke than they do now. Coke_side.jpgOf course Coke’s other effort is an interactive website where people can submit homemade video clips and photos ala YouTube and MySpace. Called The Coke Show, the site is generally panned by online pundits. We have visited a few times now, and still cannot be persuaded to view any of the submissions. But then again, the Coca-Cola people don’t need people like Marketing Blurb who would prefer to die from a coffee overdose. You can read more from the Financial Times. Photo Credit: Coca-Cola
