Marketing Blurb loves diamonds as much as the next pundit. We don’t wear any ourselves, believing diamonds are better suited to our wife and our girlfriend. If we were a rapper, we would wear diamonds—maybe even sport one in a tooth. But De Beers thinks women are not wearing
enough rocks. Remember the
diamond eternity campaign? Men were supposed to give their lovers three-stone rings and necklaces to
symbolize love
yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Marketing Blurb thinks this is a clever ploy. But as it turns out, we are not as clever as De Beers. According to
The Wall Street Journal (paid subscription required) De Beers is preparing to launch a new diamond campaign called the
Diamond Journey. Here’s the deal, men need to give their lovers a
four or more stone diamond pendant, with each stone larger than the next. This new style is intended to symbolize how your love for each other
grows stronger over time. De Beers is preparing a $ 20 million ad program to launch Diamond Journey.
Marketing Blurb thinks guys need to draw the line somewhere. We figure loving a woman or two for eternity should be good enough.
