Need a print venue for your Hispanic advertising? Why not launch your own Hispanic magazine? The idea occurred to General Mills, and so they decided to launch their own magazine called
Que Rica Vida (
What a Rich or Delicious Life.) The magazine feature articles concerning education, meals, health and wellness for a Hispanic audience. Oh, and there is a healthy dose of recipes from the Betty Crocker kitchen, coupons and
nine pages of “ads for General Mills cereals and other products, such as Yoplait, Progresso soups and Pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough.” The magazine will be published three times a year, and 2 million copies will be distributed free via mail and retail in top Hispanic markets. The mail edition is Spanish, the retail edition is bilingual.
Marketing Blurb thinks is a promising idea and we applaud General Mills for the recognition that this target audience is primarily bilingual. General Mills has directed about $ 4.6 million to Spanish-language media through May this year. We learned about this from
