You probably already know that Japanese car models top the most recent JD Power and Associates survey. But we still applaud GM for their decision to re-launch a boomer muscle car classic, the Chevrolet Camaro. The 2009 model is loosely based on the design of the 1969 classic, including rear-wheel drive. There will be a choice of manual or automatic transmission and six or eight-cylinder engines. GM believes the car will appeal to young buyers. While Marketing Blurb does not disagree, we think young buyers already have too many sporty vehicles to choose from. We believe the Camaro will appear to boomers who could not afford one in their youth. On the plus side, the prototype appears more exciting that bland Chevrolet Malibu. On the minus side, the grill on this puppy looks exactly like one of the animated auto faces for the Disney Cars movie. Too bad GM missed the movie tie-in opportunity. You can read more from MSNBC.
