Marketing Blurb is an advocate of point-of-sale merchandising. While we deem POS merchandising superior to point-of-sales advertising, our friends at Nielsen Media Research believe POS advertising is effective as well. According to one of their recent studies, 68% of those surveyed said that in-store advertising would sway their buying decisions. An amazing 44% or respondents said they would actually swap a product they intended to purchase for on advertised on an in-store networks call SignStorey. SignStorey places those enormous 42” plasma video screens over the canned soup at your grocery store. Nielsen places SignStorey viewership at almost 40%. The SignStorey network is available in 1300 stores and reaches about 22 million shoppers. While Marketing Blurb has not seen we actual Nielsen study, we think these numbers are optimistic.
