We always wanted a Montblanc fountain pen. But as it turns out, our anticipation was worth more than the pen. We received one as a gift, and to be honest we were somewhat disappointed. But that was years ago, before the renown pen maker decided to expand into other luxury goods including desk accessories, cuff links, key rings and money clips, and most recently rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
Montblanc jewelry is an attempt to lure women to the brand, (who are otherwise uninspired by their writing instruments.) According to
The New York Times (free registration required,) Montblanc has enlisted young hip designers to fashion the jewelry, and supported their work with a handsome advertising campaign for spring 2007. Look for a lavish page in Vogue.
Marketing Blurb thinks this is a fine idea and we have already proposed with a hand-written note to this model festooned with Montblanc jewelry. (We can’t afford the jewelry, but we did offer her our pen.)
