Marketing Blurb likes Starbucks more than the next pundit. Fortunately, we are a not a junkie, and do not frequent Starbucks every day. In fact, visiting Starbucks is a special occasion we treasure. Yes, the coffee is fantastic, but we usually go to meet someone and socialize for awhile. As such we never find ourselves waiting in a long line at Starbucks behind those with a $ 4 per day habit to feed. We learned from The Wall Street Journal, (paid subscription required) that these lines result from all those folks ordering weenie Frappuccinos. According to the WSJ “Frappuccinos take longer to prepare than most drinks because they are mixed in a blender, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with sweet toppings.”  And during the month of July, sales growth actually slowed at Starbucks because of the long lines. (Sales were still up, but only 4%, which was below their expectations.) We think the moral of the story is simple. Arrive at Starbucks early--on your way to work is too late. Better still, arrive at the office, answer a few emails, and go back. Oh and remember that God make coffee black. It does not required any special ingredients. Photo Credit: The Wall Street Journal
