Now you might think that promoting washer and driers is a bland but necessary marketing chore, and you would be wrong, naturally. You just need demographics and some imagination to realize like Whirlpool that laundry is all about
romance and matching making. We learned for
Promo Magazine, that Whirlpool is partnering with relationship website
Perfectmatch.com to host a series of
Spin Cycle events. At these
events, singles have an opportunity to meet, mingle, and “have some good clean fun while playing laundry-themed games that can earn them Whirlpool prizes.” Like
Marketing Blurb you might just wonder what the hell laundry-themed games are. Well, one is called
Find Your Sole Mate, where couples are matched according to socks. These are
not events for the Laundromat types. Whirlpool is targeting second-time singles (divorcees) and singles over 30 because of their level of disposable income. This is the most bizarre promotion we can recall, but hey—singles over 30 are certainly looking for clean lovers.
